DISTANCE EDUCATION: UKRAINIAN VISION FOR INTERNATIONAL DIALOGUE - DEFEP

On June 12, 2025, at the Northern Campus of the Lviv National University of Veterinary Medicine and Biotechnology named after S.Z. Gzhytsky, as part of the training “Opportunities for International Cooperation for Teachers and Scientists”, the results of the university’s participation in the international Erasmus+ K2 DEFEP project (101083143) “Distance Education of the Future: Best EU Practices in Response to the Requests of Modern Higher Education Applicants and the Labor Market” were presented. The meeting, initiated by the Department of International Relations, brought together representatives of various faculties of the university.
In the context of the training topic, DEFEP participants noted that in the context of global challenges and the digital transformation of education, Ukraine must actively form its own model of distance learning, combining academic flexibility, innovative approaches and openness to international cooperation. The key to this is the introduction of modern platforms, the development of adaptive educational programs and the creation of conditions for the mobility of students and teachers in the digital environment. Distance education in Ukraine is not only a response to challenges, but also a tool for dialogue with the international community, a platform for new educational alliances and the exchange of best practices.
Therefore, during the meeting with the university staff, a constructive discussion was held on the prospects for implementing a distance form of education in individual educational programs. Representatives of the faculties joined the dialogue, who expressed interest in piloting the distance format in individual bachelor’s and master’s programs, in particular in the fields of economics, IT, management and tourism.
The guarantors of educational programs presented their visions in the field of digitalization of the educational process. Particular attention was paid to the adaptation of curricula to the online format; ensuring academic integrity in distance learning; technical and methodological support for students and teachers; opportunities for cooperation with international educational platforms and partners.
The discussion became an important step on the path to expanding the university’s educational opportunities, increasing its international competitiveness and compliance with modern educational trends, integrating distance learning, and training specialists for global challenges.
