EDUCATIONAL VISIT TO SAARLAND UNIVERSITY

The Erasmus+ team of the DEFEP project “Distance education for future: best EU practices in response to the requests of modern higher education seekers and labor market” held a week of meetings during a visit to Saarland University in Germany from 10 to 14 July 2023. Active participants were representatives of partner universities in Ukraine, Moldova, Italy and Germany.

During this week there were meetings of the Coordinating Council on “Distance Education Project Management”, as well as a study visit of researchers on the topic “Design of Digital Master’s Programs”.

At the time of the meeting, the participants had the opportunity to get acquainted with real cases of the European experience of distance education introduced at German universities, exchange views and visions for the further development of higher education in the era of digitalization.

Throughout the week, practical workshops, interesting discussions and presentations of best practices for the development of higher education, including distance learning, were held.

Institutional coordinators and project managers from the partner institutes of the consortium discussed plans for operational and financial management, project management, communication and dissemination.

In addition, the participants had the opportunity to get acquainted with the university campus and the library of the Saarland University, to visit the UniGR-Center for Border Studies; learn more about the structure of this institution of higher education, its history, traditions, locations and architecture. This contributed to a better understanding of the essential context and educational opportunities of Saarland University.

The project participants express their sincere gratitude to Professor Astrid Fellner, her team and Saarland University for the rich days of research, training and cooperation. Full of inspiration for further work on the project, each of them intends to continue working for the development of distance education in their university. In turn, the implementation of the best European practices will contribute to the development of a modern educational environment in Ukraine and Moldova, will increase the quality of higher education in response to the demands of employers and the labor market.
