The DEFEP project, “Distance Education for the Future: Best EU Practices in Response to the Requests of Modern Higher Education Seekers and the Labor Market,” is actively developing at Petro Mohyla Black Sea National University. The project coordinator, Olena Filimonova, explained how the team improved the methodology of distance education and adapted regulatory documents for universities. She shared that specialized laboratories equipped with modern technology have already been created, and teacher training programs have been implemented.

According to Rector Leonid Klymenko, distance education is a direct response to the challenges posed by the pandemic and the war.

Angela Boyko, Dean of the Faculty of Computer Sciences, emphasized that the introduction of distance education at the master’s level is a significant achievement. She also highlighted the advantages of this format, stating that it allows students to combine work and study, providing education at any convenient time and place. The quality of the educational process is ensured by modern equipment provided through the project and by highly qualified teaching staff, which guarantees effective learning.

The head of the Software Engineering Department, Yevhen Davydenko, shared that starting in September 2024, master’s students majoring in Software Engineering are studying remotely using platforms like Google Meet, Zoom, and Moodle.

Teachers from the Software Engineering Department, Kateryna Antipova and Yuriy Reshetnik, demonstrated how multimedia boards are being used, significantly enhancing the presentation of educational materials.

Petro Mohyla Black Sea National University expresses its gratitude to the DEFEP project for enabling the introduction of the best European practices into Ukrainian education, opening new opportunities for both students and teachers.
