The DEFEP project “Distance Education for Future: best EU practices in response to the requests of modern higher education seekers and labor market” was presented to the delegation of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine during their visit to the Petro Mohyla National University in December 2023. The prospects and obstacles to the widespread implementation of distance learning in higher education in Ukraine were discussed.
During the inspection of the premises of Petro Mohyla Black Sea National University, rebuilt after the missile attacks, Leonid Klymenko, Rector of PMBSNU, demonstrated classrooms prepared for a specialized laboratory for distance education, which is one of the planned results of the project.
DEFEP project coordinator Olena FILIMONOVA informed about the results of the research carried out by the project team during its first year. Particular attention was paid to a sociological survey of participants and stakeholders in distance education, the results of which aroused the interest of the Minister of Education and Science Oksen LISOVYI and his deputy Mykhailo VYNNYTSKYI.
It should be noted that the DEFEP team is unanimous with the Ministry of Education and Science in understanding the relevance and prospects of distance education, which meets the modern needs of students and employers and, accordingly, should take a prominent place in Ukrainian higher education institutions. Our main task is to ensure its quality and content, to make it creative and interesting for students, to promote the popularization and positive perception of distance education.
